In the summer time the weather is really hot, and most public schools close. In the winter it is mild. The school year is Sep to July. Most people who are in the tourist trade can speak a little English. It is best to bring your own materials from home for EFL teaching in Cyprus, the schools tend to only use books from their local book shop. Teaching children in Cyprus is big business now as they want to get their little ones ready for state school - they start leaning English around 9 years old. English is taught in all public schools.

One of the benefits of being a Mediterranean island is plentiful sunshine.
Throughout the year, and Cyprus is no exception. In fact, Cyprus epitomizes the ideal weather of the region with sunshine and fine temperatures almost every day. Extremes of temperatures are rare, meaning Cyprus has something to offer every month of the year, whether it's swimming (as late as November) or enjoying cultural sites and festivals (all year long). While seasonal fluctuations are not drastic, they are different.
Cyprus
is a free and easy place, where life revolves around small cafes and bars;
and of course the family. The work ethic is non-existent. After an hours
work they need an hours break to recompose themselves! For sun, sand and
rest it is ideal. Because Cyprus lives on tourism there is a wide diversity
of people and almost anyone is easily accepted. Other than tourism and
small shops, Cyprus has very little industry.
Be prepared for a very slow pace and people who are not interested in
hustle and work. It is a great place to relax.
