Teach English in Greece (TEFL)
Learning English is big business in Greece. It is common for parents to send their children to Private language schools (Frontiseras) to supplement the English language tuition they receive in the State schools. Most private language schools are Greek-owned and run and, despite being legally obliged to employ a majority of Greek teachers, schools are now taking on more and more native English speakers. There are lots of opportunities for foreigners to work in schools. You will definitely need a University degree and an internationally-recognized TESOL certificate. A knowledge of Greek is also useful – though not essential.

The
average wage for a teacher who works in Greece is €1000,00 a
month you are able to live a comfortable lifestyle, but that depends on
every individual's expectations.The relaxed speed of life at times can
be rejuvenating, depending on your age and ambitions.
The Greek relaxed way of doing things, you must be patient. The students
are not very motivated, so it can be exhausting. However, this is all
part of the adventure. It is a beautiful place to live, the people are
great (or at least entertaining!) once you get to know them. You can survive
quite well on your pay and also have a good experience. Many teachers
travel around the Island on thier summer break. You can get packages for
trips to Islands from the mainland.
Costs:
The cost of living in Athens is much, much lower than in London or in
any other British city. Could you eat out 2/3 times a week in London,
drinking as much wine or beer as you like? You can also fill your car
up for nearly half the price in Greece and shopping in the supermarkets
is much cheaper. Outside of Athens the cost of living is much cheaper,
especially if you can shop at the local markets. Teaching
is not bad in Greece if you're flexible and laid back you'll enjoy it
more and make a lot of Greek friends whilst experiencing a fantastic lifestyle.
Which is the main thing to recommend Greece – the way of life is
wonderful.
Although a word of warning, Greece is still a very chauvinistic society,
especially outside the main cities, which may cause irritation to independent
thinking women. Having said that, you will also be the most popular female
for miles, and will probably never need to pay for your own drinks!!
