The
Country
The weather here varies considerably, from the Northern deserts,
to the tropical South. In addition, altitude influences the climate greatly
Mexico is a rich country, however there is a wide gap between rich and
poor. Unemployment and poverty are a major problem, but even those with
regular jobs still exist below the poverty line.
Tourists flock here for the beaches primarily, but also for the ancient
ruins and colonial history.
The
Living
Food
is cheap in Mexico, and eating out is very reasonable.
Restaurants are very varied, and go right up to international standards.
Bars and discos are also numerous, and you can find a party every night
(if you want). Mexico City is an important cultural centre, with many
exhibitions, concerts and plays. Cinemas are also a good deal, with movies
usually shown with the original soundtrack. Traditional Mexican food is
fantastic, and does not always have to be full of chilies! Fruit and Veg
is very cheap, and widely available. Wine can be found, but not as easily
as Tequila. And the Mexican beers Sol and Corona, are world renowned.
The English Teaching opportunities are endless
in Mexico, and Belize & Guatemala are within easy reach.

Mexico
offers great opportunities for finding teaching work quickly, especially
for North Americans. Mexicans need to learn English more urgently now,
since their inclsion in the North American Trade Agreement. Private language
schools are now everywhere, and more and more companies are providing
in-house English lessons for their employees. A lot of recruitment takes
place in Mexico, with most teachers finding work once they have arrived
in the country. TEFL qualifications are not always necessary, unless you
work for the larger institutes.
